The House That Dev Built

This post is long overdue... between being a mom, working a few jobs at home, making over a hundred éclairs over Christmas break, church responsibilities, getting moved in, house-keeping, and sleep, I don't have as much time as I'd like to post to my blog. I had to just make time, otherwise this post would never happen. Many people have asked to see pictures of our house in the woods (#myalaskancottage). There are so many pictures that we took throughout this process, that I thought it would be easier to assemble them into a little video. Two videos follow: (or you can skip the videos and look at the pictures at the bottom of this post).

1. The Short Version, that shows the process of getting the house getting built from the outside.

2. The Long Version, which is almost all of our photos throughout the building process, including the inside.

I am very thankful to Devin for all of the lonnnnnggggg hours that he put in so we could have a place to call home. I can't believe how lucky I got to marry such a hard-working and dedicated man who constantly does everything in his power to provide for his family. I love the picture at the top of this post, as it perfectly captures the kind of person that Devin is. I don't know that he fully knows how grateful I am for his hard-work and how blessed I feel for him and what he did for us this past year. What a lucky woman I am-- to have him in my life, and now a beautiful cottage in the woods that he built--thanks to his handiwork! I know he will teach Hatcher the value of hard work, and for that I am most grateful.
I hope these pictures capture a little bit of what I would see on a daily basis and at all hours of the day.

I know that in addition to Devin, there are many others that helped make this cottage possible for us. I hope that these individuals know how thankful we are. Also to those that gave us things, have lent us things, sent us house-warming gifts... It truly feels great to have a place to call home, and we thank you.

Take a peek at the process of the coming forth of the cottage in the woods...

SOOO beautiful! Those photos of your house in the snow. I mean seriously. WOW! What a beautiful home and beautiful surroundings. I love all of these pictures. I'm so happy for you two to have this home to call your own. Good work Devin! What a talented, hard working guy. PS what is the song on that video? Such pretty music!

This is incredible! I am in awe of Devin's abilities and your awesome home! I can't even imagine how much hard work and skill went in to it, but you did provide a pretty good description, so thanks for all the pics! It is a gorgeous home and looks ideal and cozy.
